"Hi. I'm Aimee Beger, veterinarian and today we're going to be talking about how to choose a good shampoo for your dog or puppy. What we recommend is to use a dog or puppy shampoo and not use something like detergent for dishes or human shampoo because those can be caustic on their skin and cause burns. A good basic shampoo that we use here at our clinic is just a basic aloe and oatmeal shampoo. It's good for cleansing and moisturizing your dogs skin. And we recommend bathing them about every three to four weeks unless they are, of course, getting dirty outside, then you would want to bathe them more frequently. It doesn't really matter what type of hair that they have. Some dogs benefit from a cream rinse afterwards which would add a little bit more moisture and allow you to groom them afterwards and get through a long curly hair coat."
