"Hi, this is Laura Turner and today I'm going to talk with you about how to obtain federal grants. Whether it's a personal or professional grant, you're going to want to get everything together in time for this grant. You're going to want to make sure that you have everything very detailed because the government is sort of inundated with requests for these kinds of things, and you really want to sort of make sure that your application rises to the top. So make sure that you get it all together months before it is due. And even have somebody look over it for you. You could even conscript grant writer to help you out. And of course, think about what you are applying for. Is it a personal thing that you need this for? Are you, for example, are you a victim of hurricane Katrina, and do you need to get a grant in order to rebuild your home? So you'll have to find the right and the proper channels to go through in order to get that grant. And the best place to find that is at www.grants.gov G O V. And then you can sort of look through all the grants that are available to you and figure out which one is the one that you need to apply for. So don't waste your time applying for something that you're not actually applicable for. And finally, detail, in extreme detail, your budget, and what you need this money for, and what it's going to go to, how you're going to use this money, and why you're the best person to get. And in fact, you could also research other federal grants and... according to how they've been budgeted to help you out with that so... Those are some ideas for obtaining federal grants."
