"Hi, this is Laura Turner and today we're going to talk with you about how to write greeting card verse. When you're thinking about writing your greeting card, of course first think about what you want to say. Determine what needs to be said whether you've got I said a birthday card, a thank you card, a congratulations card, anniversary card, whatever. Then from that you're also going to be able to think about your verse. Greeting card verse is not exactly you know, high poetry for the most part. In fact a lot of greeting cards that we buy today contain within them not really poems per say, but little sayings. Also, if you look at greeting cards today, some of them may rhyme but a lot of them may just be sort of sentimental, you know, talking prose style. So you'll actually have prose that's set up like a poem. So think about that, you don't necessarily have to confine yourself to rhyming you know, cat, bat, sat, mat, hat, things like this and you know making your little trite verse, you can actually just insert sentimental sayings and things that work with the card. Also think about are you going to write toward the image of the card, you know, do you, are you being sort of commissioned to write for images that are already made, that will help you a lot in figuring out what you're going to use. This little card that I have here are two little dogs in bed, on the inside of the card it says, I can't keep my paws off you, right, so it's a little turn of phrase and it goes with the image on the card and it's specifically, you know, a romantic card. So think about, you know, all these things whenever you are trying to write your greeting card verse."
