"Hello, I'm Sarah Norris with Total Childcare Center in Wilmington, North Carolina and today we're talking about daycare teacher resumes. Working in the field of childcare is a challenging position and it's also one in which we have a lot of turnover that affects our quality and is not good. And so in looking for staffing for childcare, it's important that the administrator look for someone that they think is going to do a good job as well as provide stability in that particular setting. When I'm looking at a resume I want to see that the person has had probably some experience either within a childcare setting of some type, whether it's a licensed facility or an unlicensed ... more than just babysitting experience, but some type of structured childcare experience. I like to look at, of course, look at their education also. The more education they have in early childhood often indicates that they are going to be more ready to take over a classroom. They may be qualified as a lead teacher, dependent upon what their education was in, whether it was in early childhood or they have enough courses within early childhood to count. I look at why they want a position in childcare and what they think they can offer. As often on the resume, what they can offer to children and why they want to work with children and do they want to work with a particular age group, or are they flexible and willing to try other age groups. Are they a leader? Do they want to be a lead teacher? Are they willing to go back to school if they don't meet the requirements? So those are the types of things that I look for in a resume for a childcare teacher that we've talked about."
