"Hi, my name is Lincoln Ward. I am the director of the Austin Tennis Center as well as a USPTA certified teaching pro here in Austin, Texas. Today we're going to talk about what the strings on your tennis racket are made of. There are a variety of different types of string but they generally break down into natural gut, which is from a cow, synthetic gut, which is a synthetic version of guy, nylon, which is a little bit tougher string, not quite as forgivable, followed by a mono-filament polymer which is just a single thread of string going through your racket. Followed by a multi-filament string which generally just gives a little bit more playability. After, for a little while they were playing around with putting titanium on strings to help with the playability and gripping of the strings. But nowadays they're really going for texturized multi-filament strings and that's pretty much what your strings on your tennis racket are made of."
