"Hi, I'm Judy Carrier with Jewels by Park Lane. I'm going to talk to you about buying diamond rings. First of all, decide who is it for. If it's buying for yourself, it's a lot easier. If you're buying it for someone else, you have to take into consideration what they like and what appeals to them. First of all you have to decide what kind you're going to buy. I mean there's so many things to look for, you have to determine what type of cut you want. What color? You need to decide the shape of the ring. And take into consideration if you're buying it for someone else, how big is her hand because you don't want to get a rock, that's you know, going to feel that heavy, the whole thing. Unless of course you're really trying to impress her and that can do it. The other thing, color is very, very important and that will determine the value of your diamond as well. You know, blue and, is one of the more expensive colors. When you get into the yellows and browns, they're not as quite as expensive. The most popular one, when you're thinking like an engagement ring or something is, I would say, a clear white diamond because that reflects light and that is one of the things that you look for, the different facets in cutting the ring. The other thing that's really important when you're buying a diamond is your price range and that is probably one of the things you have to decide first because that will determine the size, the weight, the color and the cut.
