How to Grow Grass Where Moss Grows

"Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen. And in this segment we're going to talk about how to grow grass where moss grows. Now as you can see this is one of my shadier areas. I've got deciduous trees and pine tree, and everything's dropping leaves. And right here I had a nice area of grass this summer, it's now November and the grass is dying because of the leaves have fallen and I haven't raked them up quick enough, and I'm getting moss growing everywhere. So I could either turn this area into a moss garden or we can keep it as a beautiful lush grass garden in the summer. The easiest way to get rid of moss in your garden is to cover it will compost or potting soil and add grass seed over that every spring and every fall. So every spring I'm going to fix this area. So right now I'm not really going to do anything to the moss till the spring. I can't really do anything about it. I'm going to rake the leaves up and in the spring when the nights start getting warmer, so I'm going to wait till April May. And I'm going to put the compost over everything. I'm going to add lots of grass seed and I'm going to water it really well because it's not going to get a lot of water with the pine tree here. And next summer again like I did this summer I'm going to have beautiful lush grass in this area. So I only have to deal with a little bit of moss in the winter time and it's in with the grass. And eventually I will win and next summer I will have a lush green grass lawn under my trees."
