You should first check in with your local yarn shop. The sales people there will be able to show you simple well written patterns. That's definitely the easiest way to start. You can also find many patterns on the Internet these days, just make sure that you can read through it and understand exactly what is being said. Some of the current knitting magazines will tell you which patterns are for a beginner, which for... are for an intermediate and which are for an advanced knitter. So it's best to follow their instructions. If you stop in to your local yarn store for a pattern, make sure that you get the guidance that you need, and also if you buy supplies at that shop, the owner and sales people will be happy to assist you in terms of understanding and completing your project."
