"Alright, so this is how to run a mile on a treadmill. Now really advice on how to run a mile on a treadmill is the same as how to run twenty. There is, you know, some variations, but for the most part, you want to make sure you have the same things in line. Pebbles is here today. She is a great treadmill runner and she's going to help us with some different keys that I'd like to point out to you. First of all, make sure that you're wearing the proper running shoes. That's for any kind of running. On a treadmill, you can get away with lighter running shoes as treadmills have built in shock absorption, not as sort of dangerous with improper shoes on hard surfaces like outdoors. Also, you want to make sure that your posture's aligned. Nowadays, a lot of cardio machines, not just treadmills, have monitors for television watching to make the time pass more fun I guess. But you're going to want to make sure that you're not leaning down looking at that monitor because that's going to affect your overall posture and alignment, could cause a neck pain and lower back pain. So make sure that you stay straight up and just, you know, run that mile. Alright, most treadmills also have a lot of controls for elevation, for speed. There are also some pre-programmed options to kind of help you, to guide you if you don't know exactly what to do. You can pick one. Many of them... there's intervals. There's hills. There's random. There's manual. I like the manual setting myself because I control how fast and all that kind of stuff the treadmill's going. Alright, so I'm just going to take Pebbles up a little bit here. And for her, this is kind of a slow jog pace. She can run way faster, but we're not going to push her too hard. You want to make sure to get yourself up to a heart rate that is suitable for your age group. There's tons of information on that out there. Look that up. And also make sure that you've got a heart monitor, a heart rate monitor to keep track of where your heart rate is. Last but not least, she's got this cool little safety thing here. That's just in case you lose track on the treadmill. This pulls out, and the treadmill stops and you're good. You don't fall off. I've seen that accident happen a lot. So, that's how to run a mile on a treadmill. Make sure you be careful."
