"Hi, okay so this is how to interpret your body fat percentage. Without fail, as a trainer for several years without fail, many people come to me and they're usually very very concerned about two things: their weight or their body fat. Typically is a more accurate gage of what's going on with a persons body content. Not to be overwhelmed by body fat percentage. Really simply, body fat percentage is only the percentage of your body that is fat. So if a person is a hundred and fifty pounds for example, and they're fifteen percent body fat then that means fifteen pounds of their body is fat. The rest of it is what we call lean body mass, which would include skeletal muscle, bone, tissue, blood organs, everything else. Many different ways to measure body fat. There are many different ranges. There's athlete population, general population. Generally, the American Counsel in Exercise recommends twenty one to twenty four percent body fat for the average woman would be considered a fit level and for men, fourteen to seventeen percent would be considered a fit level. That's the American Counsel in Exercise. They're many different ranges and it all is very dependent on your age range, your body composition and such. But that is how to interpret your body fat and go out and get that checked."
