"Hi. I'm Damon Thompson. I've been a landlord for over ten years, and I have five multi-unit buildings. This is How to Find a Roommate. The first thing you need to do is decide what room in your house you're going to be renting out. Is it a spare bedroom, your spare attic, or is it your basement? You need to decide what this room is going to be, and make sure that it's cleaned out and ready for your perspective tenant. The next thing you need to do is post an add for the room. You can place an add online, you can use your local newspaper, or you can put up fliers like this. Many coffee shops and grocery stores allow you to use fliers, and just put them up in a commons area. And you want to place the flier up, and it'll have all the pertinent information about where the property's located, the rent. You want to make sure that that's out there. Then the next thing you want to do is ask friends and family if they know of anyone. And a lot of time, that's a good way of finding someone, because someone you know knows them. Then you also need to meet with your roommate, or all the potential roommates. Talk to them, meet them face to face, have one on ones with them, because you want to know who this person is because you're going to be opening up your home to a stranger. So you want to feel comfortable, and at the same time, you want to make sure that your potential roommate is comfortable as well. And finally, make a decision. Find that perfect roommate that you've gelled with. I'm Damon Thompson, and that's how to find a roommate."
