"Hello, my name is Arielle Reid in Budapest, Hungary and today we will discuss the different ways to vote. Now, the different ways to vote can be understood in two separate manners. Number one, is actually the different ways to cast your ballot. And number two, the different methods used to record your vote. So the first method that we'll talk about is the absentee ballot. Absentee ballots are usually issued to people who are on vacation or out of the country when an election is called, which allows them to mail in their ballot on election day to their federal district. Now another method that is used is advanced polling. Now, different than the absentee ballot, if for some reason a person can't vote on election day because of work, because of religious holiday or other mitigating circumstances, advanced polling allows these people to vote before the polls actually open. Now, depending on country and depending on area, different laws regulate absentee ballots and advanced polling. Now, on to the different methods of recording a vote. We have touch screens. Some countries and some states use touch screens almost like an ATM to record a person's vote. There are also optical scans that are used in conjunction with the traditional paper ballot where a machine actually reads the paper ballot and records the vote. There are punch card voting, which like it sounds, where holes are made to indicate the choice of the voter. And finally the simple paper ballot where voters take off or cross the box that indicates the candidate of their choice. Now paper ballots are usually, of this nature, are usually read by hand. And these are the different ways to vote."
