"Hello, my name is Arielle Reed, and I'm in Budapest, Hungary, and today we'll talk to you about the Internet Tax Freedom Act. Now the Internet Tax Freedom Act was essentially a moratorium on taxes that states wanted to apply to internet access. Internet Tax Freedom Act was essentially a moratorium that stopped the application of additional taxes to online transactions - one online transaction. And the taxing of internet access. So it was instituted first in nineteen-ninety-eight by Bill Clinton. And the purpose of the act was to preserve and to expend the internet potential for education, business and informational means. So what the tax actually does is prevent bandwidth or byte taxes and does not allow multiple taxes on one online transaction. The Internet Tax Freedom Act was set to expire in two thousand and seven but it was renewed by President Bush."
