"So you want to start and independent label. How to start an independent label? Well first thing you need, some of this. Can get no label 'cause nothing in life comes free. You know what I mean? So you gotta have your paper together, make sure that you can back your label up. Another thing that you're going to need is you know a business license, a tax id number, you know. It really comes down to all these things being in line and in point in order to start an independent label. You going to have to figure out the name of the label. What's the type of label you want to be? Get that name copyrighted track, you know. Get all that stuff in line. One of the other things that you're going to have to do, you gotta have artists. Now, whether that artist is you or someone knows, you gotta have artists that have, you know, have a label, singers, rappers, maybe it's a band, maybe it's just musicians. Who knows? But whatever type of label you're going to be, you gotta have your staff on point. Another thing that you need is a business plan. You know, you can't jump into this thing blind. You gotta know where you at, and where you plan on going. And not only that, it helps to have a good course of action to tell you how you're going to get there so that you're not driving blind. And don't just jump in and think that just because you get the label that things are going to take off immediately 'cause everything takes time. I've been in this game for ten years, you know, and I still ain't went multi-platinum yet but don't be surprised when it happens. Another thing you want. You gotta have an office, a station for headquarters, you know what I mean, where you can conduct business, your phone lines, whatever it is that you need to do on the business aspect of it. Maybe you might have your production place right in your office. But you need an office, a headquarters for you to operate out of. And you know, get those things in line and all those things and that's the first key points on how to start and independent label."
