"I'm Jonathan Ayres with Network for Success and today we're going to talk about what is a wireless device? A wireless device is any device that can transmit signals using an internal radio. And a radio is nothing more than an electrical circuit that sends electrical impulses through the air. So the best example of a wireless device that we carry around are our cellphones. All of our cellphones are wireless and they allow us to talk to other people by sending signals across the air to towers which is they are, then relays the signal to people with phones in other locations. Now how will the supply to your computer home network. Well let's say for example you have a computer laptop and you want to walk from one house to the other and still be surfing the Internet. Most likely your computer laptop has a built-in radio or wireless device, commonly called a wireless card, and that wireless card would allow it to talk to some other wireless device, what would you need? Well, you'd need a wireless router in order for your network to transmit that information to allow your laptop to walk around the house and still have it's signal. So basically what we're talking about are two radios. Two little radios, one that transmits the information out, the other one that receives it, and then transmits data back. So a wireless device is any device that has a little radio build inside to allow it to transmit signals and data."
