"Hi I'm Harvey Kronberg. I'm with Austin Flag and Flagpole. And needless to say we get a lot of questions about what days people should be flying their flags. I have to say that most folks fly their flags year round on a daily basis. But folks that just want to display them on commemorative days, there are about twenty different days that are prescribed in the flag code and by tradition. Just to give you an idea, there's New Year's Day, Inauguration Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Easter Sunday, the National Day of Prayer which is the first Thursday in May, Mother's Day, Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day at which point you put your flag up, lower it to half staff, let it stay at half staff until noon, and then go ahead and raise it back up for the duration of the day. Then when it's Flag Day, Fourth of July which is Independence Day, Labor Day, Constitution Day, Patriot's Day used to be in April but after September eleventh they changed the date to September eleventh and of course we do fly the flag on September eleventh. Many folks fly it at half staff. Columbus Day, Navy Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Elections. Those are the ones that are prescribed by the flag code."
