"All right, let's apply the single stroke to the kick, to the base drum. All right. Now, it's just like...just like your hands, single stroke. But all the same concepts. You want to apply the same concepts with letting the stick do the work for you, letting the pedal and the beater that...do the work for you. And rebound off. So, if you're playing heels off, you're just gonna...there's a rocking motion. You're going to come down, your beater's going to hit, and then after it hits, you're going to drop your heel a little bit, and once you do that, that's going to release tension off your foot...and pedal board, and your beater is going to come back. And then, if you want to get a little bit faster, you can start bouncing. Bouncing and vibrating your foot. But as soon as you feel and hear the hit off the head of the base drum, you want to release the tension off your foot."
