"Watching fish is a wonderful stressless activity and to be able to maintain our tank we need to talk about how to care for it. My name is Michael and we're going to talk about that. Fish are very simple to keep as long as we do a couple of things. First off we need to make sure we are maintaining the water quality and to do that, we want to do a 25 percent water change on this tank once a month. With that water change is going to include a gravel siphon. You can find these products at your local pet store. All you need is a gravel siphon. And we're going to take down about 25 percent of the water. We're going to treat the new water and put it back in the tank. This activity should take you probably about 30 minutes a month. With that we're going to clean our filter and change the filter cartridge itself. Now the fish on a daily basis we're going to look at them and make sure that everything is fine with them, that they are behaving, there's no ailments, they are not sitting at the bottom and that their appetite is good. And feeding them, we're going to feed them once or twice a day. All you have to do is take a small pinch of food and you take and you put it in your aquarium and then you want to watch your fish. You shouldn't feed them more than they're going to consume in about a three minute period. If you have a lot of food going down to the bottom and just sitting there, thats going to seriously affect your water quality and you're going to have problems with your fish. We're also going to maintain our temperature. On average, probably keep it right around 75 degrees is about the easiest up to about 78. So we're going to do a water change once a month, we're going to inspect our fish daily, we're going to feed them and we're only going to feed them as much as they're going to eat in about a three minute period and we're going to watch the water temperature as well. Your light should be on about 12 hours a day. Any more than that and we're going to have green algae growing, any less than that and we're going to have brown algae growing. We're talking about how to maintain a fish tank. My name is Michael and I've shown you how to do that."
