"My name is Ryan Wells. I'm the owner of a local fish store in Lindon, Utah called Reef Runners. If you have bubbles in your salt water aquarium and you intentionally placed them there, some of the key places you may want to look is a protein skimmer. Quite often a brand new protein skimmer takes time to what they call break in. During this time it actually accumulates different proteins or what's commonly referred to as skim or sludge. This in turn makes a higher skintensity on your water. That would in return reduces the bubbles that are in your tank. Some of the other places you may look for if you don't have a protein skimmer or you've eliminated that as a possibility of bubbles, is through your plumbing. Make sure your return lines and other pumped equipment has no holes or leaks in them. Quite often this can cause what's called a Venturi System. A Venturi System draws air in through a vacuum created by fast moving water over an opening or a small hole. This in turn sucks in air and causes what's called micro-bubbles. Typically in a reef type aquarium, you usually don't have bubbles in your tank. Therefore if you do have bubbles in your tank, look for these possible indications of where they may be coming from and try and eliminate the source of these bubbles."
