Video Transcript

"My name is Scott and I'm the owner of Climb On Indoor Rock Climbing Gym in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today we're going to discuss rock climbing step by step. The first thing you would want to do or the first step that you would take is to get proper instruction at your local indoor climbing gym. Some of the other steps that you might take are to get some of the Falcon guide books by John Long like "How To Rock Climb" or "Beginning Rock Climbing". These are good steps to take entering into this sport. Once you've read the books and you've got some proper instruction, the next thing that you would do is learn your follow through figure eight and how to belay your partner. Along with that, learning how to read the climb, judge it by its great value so that you don't end up on a climb that's super hard as a beginner or know less. Proper fitting harnesses, proper shoes for rock climbing, these are all steps that you would take as you venture into this sport. Some of the other steps that we would take is conditioning our bodies for the sport, stretching to stay limber, working on balance and different techniques through proper instruction at your local climbing gym. This has been rock climbing step by step."
