"Hi my name is Scott and I'm the owner of "Climb On!" indoor rock climbing. Today we're going to discuss how to use a climbing harness. Obviously the fit is very important, and you're going to want to get proper instructions from your indoor climbing gym when being fitted for a harness. Very important is to be double backed. Once you get your harness on and fitted, we're going to go ahead and double back that buckle, making sure it's above our hip bones, and it's good and snug. We have on a harness a belay ring and two tie-in loops. We use a piece of accessory cord to backup our belay ring. Our tie-in loops are on the leg loops and on the waist band; this is what we would tie-in with. Then you've got gear loops for carrying the various pieces of gear that we use for rock climbing; like our cams, our belay device, quick draws, nuts, and accessory cord. Once you've got your harness setup and you've got your gear, I can't stress enough how important it is to get the proper instruction from a qualified climbing instructor at your local climbing gym or your outdoor outfitter."
