"Hi, my name is Scott, and I'm the owner of Climb On, indoor rock climbing gym in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today we're going to discuss how to rig your climbing harness. Once you've got your harness on and you're ready to rig it, there's lots of different things that we would do, depending if you were climbing, repelling, or being the belayer. Right now I'm going to rig it to be the climber, with a follow through figure eight. Once you've got it through your tying loops you're going to go ahead and finish your knot, and you would be rigged to be the climber. Obviously this takes proper instruction from your local climbing gym or certified climbing guide. If you're rigging to be the belayer, what you would do is go into your belay device, which is on your belayer loop. What we do is we back our belay loops up with a piece of accessory cord for safety. Once he goes into his belay device and his locking carabiner, he is now rigged to be the belayer, and we can start climbing. Again, this takes professional instruction from your local climbing gym. Like I was saying, the different ways of rigging your harness would depend on what you're doing. So tying in to be the climber, setting up to be the belayer, or repelling. This is how you would rig to be the repeller. With the repel device hooked into your repel loop and setting up a proper repel. And again, I can't stress enough how important it is to get the proper instruction from your local climbing gym."
