"Good afternoon, my name is Tom Brintzenhofe, I'm a certified master mechanic out of Reading, Pennsylvania. Today we're going to talk about how to buy the basics for your car. Not a real hard thing, the first thing you want to keep in mind, it's nice to have waiting in case you ever get a cut or a scrape or something. To have a nice little first aid kit in the trunk for the nice little trips. A little hand soap and towels in case you have to work on something. Tire repair kit, it's a good idea, if you ever get a flat alongside the road, have that in your trunk with you. It's a good idea if you can stop at a local parts store, get yourself a small compressor, plugs into your cigarette lighter. You don't need a large assortment of tools, just a standard socket set and ratchet, a few wrenches. A good thing to have along is a good gallon of antifreeze, windshield washer fluid, an occasional bottle of fuel injector cleaner, helps out when you stop and get gas every once in a while throw a bottle of that in your gas tank. At least you should probably have at least two quarts of oil in your trunk at all times. An extra wiper blade, it's a good idea in case you have one fly off or gets torn in the middle of a rainstorm. Again we've got another bottle of fuel injector cleaner here. If you ever get a chance to - when you're in a garage and you get your serpentine belt changed or you change it yourself, hold on to the old one just in case for some reason it breaks when you're on the road. Keep that old one with you. The only other thing, I might say when you're on the road is a must-have is a set of jumper cables. No one likes to get stuck out there and you forget and you leave your lights on, you come back out and your battery is dead. A lot of people willing to jumpstart you but not everybody carries them so if you don't have yours with you and they don't have them and you're still stuck there. Keep them with you. Those basics right there will keep you out of a jam and keep you rolling."
