"Hello, I'm Matthew Burbank and I'm an associate professor at the University of Utah and would like to talk to you a little bit about how to register to vote in Alabama. The first thing you want to recognize is in order to register to vote you need to be eligible to vote. And that means the most important thing is you need to be eighteen years of age or you need to be eighteen years of age prior to the election. So, you can register prior to being eighteen, but you have to be at least eighteen by election day. Generally speaking you will be able to register in a number of ways. And the way that you would probably find most convenient is to check with the Alabama Secretary of State's web page. And there you will find a form that you can download and once you fill out that form and mail it in you will be registered to vote. So, that's one way of doing it. You can also register to vote through the state's motor voter laws. So, if you are getting a driver's license or need to renew a driver's license you would be able to register to vote at that point as well. And also there are other agencies, such as the post office or various other government agencies where you could register to vote. So, all of those opportunities are available to you to register to vote in Alabama."
