"Hi my name is Dave Andrews and today I'm going to explain to you what is a sound card. Now in your computer there's a little device it's usually a chip or a card that is called a sound card. And this pops on to your motherboard and it provides input of sound from line input, input of sound from a microphone and also output of sound to speakers. Now on my laptop I'm going to show you how to see what sound card you have installed. The way that we see what sound card we have installed is to right click on your computer and let's go to manage. In Vista you have to be an administrator to see this, let's just click on continue. And from here we are going to find under system tools the device manager. This lists out all of the hardware that's included in your computer as well as your sound card. So scroll down to we find sound video and game controllers. As you can see I am running a Conezant High Definition Audio sound card. Now that is the actual chip that is inside of this laptop that's providing sound to the speakers of my laptop as well as the ports on the front that will basically convert digital sound signals to analog sound systems that we can here. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just explained to you what a sound card is."
