"Hi, my name's Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to talk to you about leaving your laptop on all the time. It's ok to leave your laptop on all the time, but what you need to keep in mind is that you have to keep the battery charged in the laptop or else you're going to lose anything you've been working on, because once that battery dies, your computer's going to go dead. Now this right here, I've got it plugged in. Now, I can leave this on in the sense of I can just take the lid of my laptop and shut it. And that's going to put it into what's called "stand-by" mode, and you can usually tell a little while after you go into stand-by mode because the little lights on your laptop will start blinking real slowly, real steadily. They won't stay lit, they'll just blink very slowly. Now what that has done is put it into low power mode. It's still going to be using your battery. So if you unplug it from the wall, and you walk away for three of four days, it has completely run down on your battery, even though it was on low power mode. Now when you open your laptop back up, your computer should automatically resume from stand-by mode, though some times you'll have to press the little power button that's on the front of it. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just talked to you about leaving your laptop on all the time."
