"Hi. My name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to make a table of contents for a paper. Let's open up Microsoft Word where we're going to create our table of contents. Click on the start button. The All programs. On Microsoft office. Let's just open up word. I'm going to pretend that I'm writing a paper here on the important features of the moon. Now what I'm going to do is we're going to go to, I'm basically going to type some text. And that's going to be my very first header. So I'm going to select this text and their styles we'll make it a heading one. Now say I had a couple of features and we're going to make them headings as well. Now that I've got three headings which I presume would have your text of your paper under them we're going to create our table of contents. Let's move these down to where they're on different pages. I'm just going to press enter a bunch of times. And let's spread this out quite a bit as well for it to be on a separate page. All right so those have been moved down to different pages. Let's go right back to the very top and we're going to enter sort of our table of contents on the first page. To do so go to the references tab at the top and just click table of contents. Now we want to insert an automatic table. So click on automatic table 1. That will automatically create our table of contents based on the headers that were in on our table. Let's go back up to page 1. You can see that my table of contents has been created here. Important features of the moon, the sea of tranquility and reflective properties of the moon's surface. It also tells you what pages they are are on. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to create a table of contents for a paper."
