Video Transcript

"When I was growing up, I never wanted to be a T.V. news reporter, never even occurred to me. I actually wanted to be a pilot. But, I wear corrective lenses, I have the contacts in now. So the military wouldn't teach me to fly and I really didn't want to spend the money to go to a aviation program at a college, so I kind of set that aside, I needed other things. I ended up going to the army but it had nothing to do with media. What really got me involved in the media was when I started doing Internet radio which got me interested. And then I went to a school that taught radio and television broadcasting, and really fell in love with the T.V. program. So even though when I was growing up I never had an interest in being in television, I found later in life that I really enjoyed the work and it was a lot of fun and I decided to make a career out of it. The path I took to get in to television broadcasting or television news reporting, was going to a school that taught it. They specifically taught radio and television broadcasting. And once I had learned some skills and learned how to do it properly, I did an internship at a good T.V. station. And once I had that internship under my belt, and learned about some more of the professional particulars about the job, I used that as an opportunity to get my first job in television news broadcasting."
