"If you're thinking about visiting an animal shelter, the best thing to do is get in the yellow pages and find a shelter near, near your home. Hi, I'm Nancy with the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch. Visiting an animal shelter, there's a lot of misconceptions about it. Basically, it's a fun experience. I would call in advance, the shelter that you plan to visit. Find out what their hours are and bring the family. It's really a fun experience. People, everyone that comes out here, they always leave with a big smile on their face and, and they're happy, and they usually walk out with a dog or a cat. It's very important to take the dog for a walk, before adopting it. The dog will learn or should learn that in, that you're going to possibly be its master. And it will become more comfortable with you and you too will become more comfortable with the animal. Cause that's very important, and if your, have an animal already at the house, like another dog, and you're going to adopt a dog from a shelter. It is best, it's best that you go, that you, when you get to your house, have someone, other member of the family, bring, get the other dog and bring them both outside, and then start, and go for at least an hour walk with the two dogs, so that they can relax and get to know each other, before the new dog enters the home and that's real important. Usually it's, it's a very smooth transition if you'll take the hour to walk the dogs together."
