"Lighting for your aquarium is a difficult decision. Hi, I'm Bruce with Aquatek in Austin, Texas, and today we're going to discuss how to light your aquarium. Lighting choices on the market are highly variable. Normal output, T5, powered compact, metal hay light, are all available for your size of aquarium. What you need to do is determine the goal for your aquarium and pick the lighting that will do it best. If you're just interested in a colorful fish tank with rocks and wood, then a single or double light strip of normal output variety will be just fine. But if you want a simple but brighter aquarium to really show off the colors of your fish and decorations, pick a power compact lighting system. On the other hand if you're looking at doing a planted aquarium or a reef tank, then you'll probably do better with a high output system like metal hay lights or T5 lighting, and that's how to pick lights for your aquarium. Until next time, I'm Bruce with Aquatek."
