"After we neuter him, hopefully his prostrate will shrink and he'll be able to feel better. Some of the best parts of being a veterinarian are the rewards that you get by coming in and making a difference for an animal. But not just an animal, but for an entire family. Animals are children to a lot of people and they are part of the family and it is incredibly rewarding to walk in and see a situation and change that situation and resolve it and have someone tell you thank you for doing this for them. It's not always that easy and it's not always resolvable but it's very rewarding to be able to do that. Some of the worst parts of being a veterinarian would probably have to be involving the sad parts and specifically with older animals with very, very sick animals when you have to help an owner make the decision that it's time for the animal to pass on or things like that. And especially when you have a young animal with a disease and that can be sad too. And the worst parts really revolve around dealing with those types of emotions. The stress is also a very big part of veterinary medicine, we do a lot from day to day, so stress is also a very big part of veterinary medicine and so dealing with sometimes stressful and sad situations can be demanding. But overall it's rewarding."
