We've got it mounted. Let's bring the tail stock up against the wood. It is going to give us a little extra security on this especially when we've got this uneven edge here. So we'll bring that up in and locked it in place. We'll set our tool rest in here and it is always important to get in a good habit, to always spin the work and make sure it clears the tool rest before you turn anything on. That way you'll be safe at all times. Now I have got this piece of bark here and I want to make sure that is secure because if I turn the lathe on and that flies away it might hit me. So I can see a little crack here so I'm going to try to break some of this off because it is a lot safer to break it off now then have it fly off and hit you. So I've got a chisel here. That wasn't on there hard or it wasn't very well secured or it surely would have flown off and maybe hit me. So I've got that. One more piece here we'll try to get off and that should do it.
