"When you're having your dress custom-made, if it's for a special occasion, for a formal gathering, for prom, even for your bridesmaids, you're going to want to know pretty much what color that you're looking for. If you're looking for bridesmaid dresses, you will want to bring color swatches, whether they're paint cards, pieces of ribbon, other pieces of fabric from fabric stores to bring to show your seamstress, this way they can match the colors that you're looking for, pretty much dead on. A lot of times designers will have different fabric swatches that you're going to be able to look through. They have a lot of different color options in them. You want to make sure that you're getting a good quality fabric, that it's the weave on on the fabric is really good. If your designer's really good, they've already done this leg work for you, and they won't use any cheap fabric. You also want to know, besides the color of the, the color that you're looking for for the dresses, what type of fabric. If you want really nice matte bridal satin, if you're looking for some lighter weight chiffon, there's also, sometimes you can go into the higher end fabrics with silks and different laces and get more of the vibrant colors. A lot of fabrics too will have a two tone, where the weave of the fabric has one color going one direction and a different color going a different direction. This one in particular, if you can see, has a little bit of yellow going length-wise and then cross-wise it has pink going the other direction. This gives is a two toned effect, which is really nice. It just gives it a really shiny feel and can be really, really flattering. You also want to make sure that the fabric that you are using is suitable for the style of your dress. Usually the designer will help guide you in the direction that you need to go to make sure that the fabric that you are using will give you the results that you're looking for."
