Flash Tools: Ink Bottle Tool

"OK, what's next? We come over here and we have an ink bottle. Well the ink bottle it's kind of a, a different tool. What it does is anytime you have a fill, remember we spoke about the difference between fill and strokes, anytime you have a fill and you pour the ink bottle on top of it, it's not really that intuitive to what would happen in real life. But basically what it does is it puts a stroke around it. If you think about it the ink, the ink bottle, the difference between ink and paint in my mind, or at least this is how I remember it, is that ink I think of a fountain pen or a pen that you dip into ink to draw an outline around something or draw text. Paint, I don't think of outlining things with paint, I think of filling things in with paint. So if you think about that, it that way, it's pretty easy. So, basically anything that's a stroke, sorry, anything that's a fill, you can stroke. And then, you know, same as with the Pen tool, you can come in and the Pencil tool and you can adjust your stroke, your color, so that you get exactly what it is that you want. Now if I come over here and try and stroke a stroke, in other words if I try to put the Ink tool on a stroke, instead of outlining it, it's just going to convert it into the stroke that we have in our preset. So because we just, let me, let me do a different kind, so I've got a thicker hairline stroke. Let's do a nice green. So right here I just turned it into that dotted line that we predefined in the properties. So you can play around, get some funky effects going on. One quick way to change the color is just use this color chip right here. And that's the Ink Bottle Tool."
