"So you were just asked to be a groomsman in your friends wedding. You might be thinking, oh my gosh, what's involved in being a groomsmen? Well, I am Lori Randall with Simply Divine Events, and I am going to tell you how to be a groomsman. First you want to do is thank the groom and let him know how excited you are about being a groomsman in his wedding. This is an honor to you, so you should be excited about this. What you're going to want to do is you're going to need to purchase a tuxedo or a suit, basically by the instructions of the groom. He's going to tell you where to go, all the groomsmen and best men are going to be getting the same tuxedo's as you, so what you need to do is go get fitted, and it's going to be your responsibility to pay for that tuxedo. When you are at the wedding, what you're going to be doing is escorting the bridesmaids down the aisle, as well as escorting them out for the recession of the ceremony. So, keep that in mind too, that you're going to be escorting someone. If the bridal party doesn't have ushers; sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, and if they don't, they're going to ask the groomsmen to be ushering all the guests in. So you're going to want to welcome everyone, hand them a program if there is a program, and you're going to want to ask them, are you here for the bride's side or the groom's side, and then you're going to place them, you know, on either side. And what you want to do is kind of grab the woman who's walking down the isle, grab her arm and actually escort her down, even if she is coming with a gentleman, and he can follow you guys behind. Once you get to the reception, you're going to want to think about escorting the bridesmaid in as well for the introductions, if they do that. And also, you know, kind of be out there, be friendly, talk to people, make them feel comfortable. Go and dance with some other bridesmaids and people that you know. That way you're kind of helping getting people on the dance floor and you know, getting the party going. So, those are some things to think about when you're being a groomsman. I am Lori Randall with Simply Divine Events. And I know that seems like, seems like a lot that you might be having to do to be a groomsman, but I know you're going to do a great job, so best of luck."
