Keep the bandage on the tattoo for at least two hours after the work is completed or even longer if directed by the tattoo artist. Remove the bandage very carefully and throw it away. Do not re-bandage the tattoo. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, and then lightly wash the tattoo. Gently pat it dry with a soft cloth. And whatever you do, don't rub it. Dab an over the counter antibiotic ointment on the clean tattoo, but do not use any product containing zinc. Apply the antibiotic ointment for the next few days, then switch to a natural moisturizer with no artificial ingredients and especially no alcohol. Coconut oil is nature's pure natural skin softener. Avoid direct sun exposure on your tattoo. Remember to care for a new tattoo, gently cleanse with mild soap.
