"My name's Ryan Parker with Parker Home Renovations, and today I'm going to teach you how to quiet squeaky hinges. If you have a squeaky hinge around the house, more than likely, it has been kind of bothering you a little bit. Well today I'm going to tell you how to fix that. What you need to do, this is a door hinge here, and what you'll need, you'll need either a white lithium grease or a, an all-purpose lubricant like a WD-40. You'll also need, for a door hinge, you'll also need a flathead screwdriver, and a cloth of some sort. Now if you're going to go with the white lithium grease, it's a little bit more labor intensive, but, you get a good result and it will last longer. On a door hinge, what you're going to want to do, is you're going to want to get your flathead screwdriver, and your going to want to put it in the bottom of the pin and hit it with a hammer, to drive that pin upwards. Then you're going to want to pull that pin completely out of the hinge. Do it one hinge at a time. Take the hinge out, dab some lithium grease on the hinge, rub it on the hinge pin real good and then you're going to want to slide that hinge pin back into the hinge. You're going to want to open and close the door several times, to work the grease in and hopefully then, you won't have a squeaky hinge anymore. Another way you can do it is with your all-purpose lubricant like WD-40. You'll want to keep the spout, on the end of the WD-40 just so you don't get it everywhere. You'll want to get your rag, and you want to hold it underneath the hinge, to keep it from dripping on the floor. You're going to want to spray, the inside of the hinge, and the outside of the hinge and then wipe the hinge off on both sides. And wipe off any, any WD-40 you got on the door, or the trim around it as well. Then you're going to want to open and close the door the same way you did with the lithium grease. And work that all-purpose lubricant in there and then hopefully you won't have a squeak after that either. And if you do have squeaks after that, you can pop this pin out, just like I showed you with the lithium grease. And if it has rust on it, you can actually get a steel wool and rub that rust off the pin and then clean it off with a cloth. And then put your lithium grease on or put your WD-40 on."
