How to Perform the Lucky Card Trick

"Hi, I'm magician Paul Weatherbee, and I'm going to be doing a card trick for you right now. Sir, step right up, would you like to shuffle the cards? Sure. Go ahead. Boy you do that well, have you been to Vegas? Never. Ok. Very good. You know there are lucky cards and unlucky cards. I have an unlucky card that I always have in a deck and I always like to take it out because it might interfere with the magic that I'm doing. Let me see if I can find my unlucky card. Ok. Oh, right here it is, I'm just going to take this out right now. I'm going to ask you to cut the cards if you would. Ok, and well just mark that cut just like that. Now this is an experiment in luck, fate, chance, coincidence. Do you believe in fate and chance and coincidence? I guess so. Alright, well let's see how we do. Let's go ahead and take a look at that card that you cut to right there. Ok. Memorize it. Ok. And you can put it back in the deck if you like. Now what I'd like you to do is concentrate on your card, and I'm going to look for my lucky card. Let me see if I can find my lucky card here. I think it's coming along quickly here I can feel it, there it is that's my lucky card. My lucky card right there. What was the card you selected? four of spades. The four of spades? Unbelievable it truly is lucky, my lucky card is the four of spades. Awesome. And now I am going to show everyone how to do the lucky card trick. You have a spectator come up and shuffle the cards. They can shuffle it up as much as they like. Then you tell a little story about a lucky card and an unlucky card. When you take your unlucky card out of the deck, it doesn't matter what card it is, all you're trying to do is find out what card is on the top of the deck. So you take any card out and tell them it's an unlucky card, and set it aside. Now, we just happen to have the two of clubs on the top of the deck. You have somebody cut the cards, when they cut the cards the top half is right here. You tell them that you're going to mark the cut, like this, and then you tell a little story about fate and chance and coincidence, you want to let as much time elapse as you can, and then pick this up and tell them to look at the card that they cut to, which is really the top card all along, and then it's just a matter of looking in the deck of cards for the card that you tell them is your lucky card but you're really looking for the card that was on top, when you have them reveal your card, turns out to be the lucky card.
