Scrapbooking is a craft that utilizes many different skills, such as photography, page layout and design. Scrapbooking has been around since people started taking photos. It is a way to visually preserve moments, feelings or experiences in life that might otherwise be written down or forgotten. It all started in 1976 when Marielen W. Christensen began keeping a book of photographs in new devices called sheet protectors. By 1980, she had assembled over 50 of these books and was asked to display them at the World Conference on Records in Salt Lake City. Since then, the door of scrapbooking has been opened and flooded by people wanting to find unique ways to remember their pasts and experiences. In this free video series, get some ideas for creating scrapbooks. Janet Casto owns and operates Stampin' Up, a scrapbooking supply store. She demonstrates how to make a pregnancy, baby's first-year and vacation scrapbook. Learn about the basic scrapbook supplies to begin the hobby. "There. Hi, I'm Janet Casto, your independent demonstrator with Stampin Up. And today I'm going to show you a cute way to make a pregnancy scrapbook. And you think, well I've got nine months, but you don't, because you want to start in that first month, at least that's what a lot of my friends did. And here's a quick and easy chipboard scrapbook. We took the designer series paper. And the reason I said you want to start right away is, because you want to take pictures each month. So you want to have at least 12 pages to document your progress and your growth. And it's okay to have a belly when you're pregnant. So here's a cute and easy way to get this done. And there's a really nice stamp that goes with this, that says, "you look fabulous", and it's a picture of a girl, of course who's pregnant, and it's from the, "she's all that", stamp set, so that's a really good idea to go with that. Another cute idea for a pregnancy scrapbook is, along with that same thing of the month by month, and this is a calendar scrapbook, and you can have each month. As your pregnancy continues, you can do different page for each shot. And then as the babies born, you can do another one of these for the first year of your babies life. So, cute and fun ways to do pregnancy scrapbooks. I'm Janet Casto with Stampin Up. Nine months goes very quickly, so you better get started on yours now. Happy stamping."
