In this clip we're going to calculate the circumference of a circle. Most people like to say perimeter of a circle, but that's the not the proper mathematical term. The proper mathematical term is circumference, and the formula is C is equal to two pi times R. Like before the area of a circle, this is the radius. Let's say that radius is five inches, so circumference of the circle, which is the distance around the circle, is two pi times 5, or 10 pi inches. Or it'll be 10 times 3.14 approximately, or 31.4 inches. This is acceptable usually in college level mathematics. In high school and grammar school, they usually want you to put it this way. The circumference of a circle is the distance around the circle. The formula circumference equals to pi times D, which is just pi times twice the radius, which is 10. Notice that you get the same answer if you use this formula, as if you use this formula, okay? One uses radius, one uses diameter.
