In this clip we're going to learn how to calculate mass. Now mass is a concept that we use in physics okay. Everyday language, most people weigh themselves and they weigh 150 pounds okay. So you weigh 150 pounds, but in reality your mass is 150 pounds. There is a formula that relates weight to mass and the pull of gravity. This is what we're looking for. So if you want to get mass alone on one side we go back to algebra. We divide this side by G and we divide this side by G. So the formula for calculating mass is weight divided by G. For example, if your, go back to this formula here, if you weigh 150 pounds and then this is always the same number - 32 feet per second squared - when you multiply these two numbers you will get your weight okay. But if you want to calculate mass just use this formula. They usually will give you this and you'll know this which is 32 feet per second squared or 9.8 meters per second squared depending on which unit you are using.
