"Hi, my name is Tim Cole. I'm with the Austin Reptile Service. I've been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over forty years. And we're here to talk about cleaning an iguana's cage. If it's a small aquarium, which you can start off with as a juvenile, it's not difficult to just change out the bedding. You could use something like cypress mulch, which is not affected by a lot of misting and humidity, which is good for the iguana. And you can spot clean that. Or you could even go something as simple as newspaper and just throw that away, and lay the new bed of newspaper down. You don't need a lot on the floor of an iguana cage, because they're arboreal, they spend most of their time up in the trees on branches. So you can put something very simple on the floor to allow you to clean it. Now if you're cleaning an outdoor cage, the main thing is to make sure the iguana can't get out while you're cleaning. So hopefully, your outdoor cage is big enough for you to step into the cage, close the door behind you and then clean."
