In this clip we're going to multiply fractions. And multiplication of fractions is a lot easier to do than the addition of fractions because you do not need to get a common denominator. Remember, we do not need to get a common denominator. Most people confuse that. One half times one fourth. Very easy. You have to know your timetables. One times one is one, two times four is eight. This is your answer right here. Now, we can do another--let's change the fraction to three over five, times ten over six. Multiply across. Three times ten is thirty. Five times six is thirty. We got lucky on this one because this one, the zeros go away, and we've got three over three, which turns into one. That was just pure luck in choosing that particular problem. Now there's another way you can do this. If you have four over ten, times twenty over two, you can do what's called cancellation. Two divided by two is one, two into four goes twice. Ten into ten once, into twenty twice. Two times two is four, one times one is one, and the answer is four. That's called cancellation.
