"One of the greatest basketball players ever invented and actually made a staple of the big mans offense, the hook shot. Hi, I'm Travis, and this is shooting a hook shot. What you want to do when you're shooting a hook shot, what you want to do when you're shooting a hook shot is if we were talking about a big man, or we're talking about a guard, what you want to do first of all is once you catch the ball, you want to use the defensive man as a gauge as to where you actually want to place the ball when you release it, cause you want to place it away from the defensive man, and that's the whole premise of shooting the hook shot, so he can't block the shot. Now, what you do is, you can start either with your back already to the basket or you can start actually coming from the side, kind of like a running hook shot, two different kinds. So, we're going to do, we're going to show for example: the running hook shot. If I'm coming across the lane, coming across the paint, what I'm going to do is plant with my right foot, if I'm shooting a right handed hook shot, and then once I plant, I take off and place it either right inside the basket, kind of like a jump shot, with the rotation, right off my fingers, or place it on the backboard for a bank shot. Here's how it goes. Kind of like that. Now, remember you always want to keep the ball away from the defense, that's the whole purpose of shooting the hook shot. It's really hard to block one, so if you perfect it, it can be an arsenal, part of your arsenal, that no one can stop. That's shooting a hook shot."
