"You know, watching a basketball game, layups a lot of times look easy, but sometimes they can be pretty difficult and when you're talking about an offense, running an offense successfully, layups can be an actual, actually and important part to winning or losing a game. Hi, I'm Travis and this is shooting a layup. One of the first things you want to do when you're shooting a layup is if you're coming from the right side, you want to plant with the left foot. Plant with the left foot, and once you plant with that left foot, you want to look at the red square which is usually above the backboard, on the back of the backboard, but sometimes like in this case, when you don't have a red square, you can kind of gauge just by looking at the rim, and placing the ball right above where the rim is, on the backboard. And, you usually can knock it down. Now, you want to use your right hand for the right side, the left hand shooting on the left side. Take a look. If you'll notice, once the ball hits the backboard, it should drop straight in, but, once the ball hits the backboard, if you shoot it properly, whether the ball hits any part of the rim, it'll still go in. That's shooting a layup."
