"My name is Dorothy Schick. I am a flight instructor and the owner of Take Wing, a flight school at Creswell Airport near Eugene, Oregon. There are many pros and cons to any career. With flying and with piloting, there are a lot of hurdles to get over to acquire the skills and experience that those who employ you want you to have. But for most of us who like to fly, the pros are that it's so enjoyable, it's so much fun and so diverse that it hardly seems difficult to get over those hurdles. But some of the difficult ones are the funding to acquire the skills and abilities just to be able to pay for flight training can be very difficult for young people. And also the amount of time and experience that it required most aviation careers is well above what say someone coming out of college with a bachelor of science would be required to have. So it's a lot of training is involved and the payback doesn't start until well into your career."
