"Hi, I'm Mike Mugford. I Pastor Friendly Street Church here in Eugene, Oregon. I've pastored here for about twenty years. I've been asked to kind of talk a little bit about the funniest day in ministry. And if you watched what's been the hardest day in ministry, these two are about the same story. I was called to make a hospital call. I'd never even been in a hospital before. And I went in to see this woman because the Pastor had just left for Australia. And I went in and she'd had a cerebral hemorrhage. Wasn't even sure that she would live. The surgery would be very, very serious and critical. I went into her room unprepared to see her head already shaved. The room was warm or at least it felt warm, the walls seemed to be coming in and out to the beat of my heart. I prayed quickly with her and got out into the hallway and leaned against the wall and a nurse came by and said, "are you okay?" And I said, "I don't know." She said, "let's get you a seat. Let's get you something to drink because you don't look very good." She survived and is doing great. She's ninety years old now, twenty-eight years later, and she and I always laugh about kind of my baptism through fire experience with her in the hospital. I mean I've never had another more serious hospital call. So I guess if you've got to start with the hardest and get to know somebody through the most difficult moments of life, Juanita's still one of my best friends and one of my greatest supporters."
