"My name is Alex and I am an entry level engineer working for Weber Eliot Engineers in Eugene, Oregon and I'm going to tell you about the tools required to be an engineer, entry level or otherwise. Entry level engineers and practicing engineers with a lot of experience generally use a lot of the same tools. Some of those tools are data base or spreadsheet software so that you can do lots and lots of remedial calculations without spending a lot of time on them. The industry standard drafting application. You need to have drafting skills because a lot of engineering is drafting. In fact an industry standard is AutoCad. Drafting is an important part of engineering and in fact entry level engineers tend to do more of the drafting and so it is even more important that they know AutoCad. Then the fact that you are in an office you have to have basic office skills. You need to know how to work well with printers basic computer skills. In some cases even having to answer the telephone and deal with clients and the more experience you get the more you do have to deal with clients and the more experience you have you have to be able to troubleshoot office supplies, office hardware and things like that."
