"Pharmacy techs assist pharmacists in their duties in dispensing medicine. There are no standardized national requirement for pharmacy techs. Typically pharmacy technologists have a vocational course of study. There are a lot of private schools that offer this course work which typically ranges 12 to 18 months. However that course work is not required to be a pharmacy tech. Most states will have some type of certification process for pharmacy techs though that ensure basic competency. Upon obtaining your certificate as a pharmacy tech then you are free to work in the field assisting pharmacists in dispensing medication to the patients."
