"I'm not currently aware of any way to become a nurse for free. Becoming a nurse typically requires two to four years of study. While that, of course will require tuition, there are ways that you can reduce or mitigate your tuition expenses. One certainly would be in the form of scholarships. There are a number of schools that offer scholarships, as well as private organizations that will offer scholarships, and there may even be government sponsored programs. This would particularly relate to people who will then commit to nursing in an under-served community, whereby, the government would subsidize part or all of your nursing education. If you were able to obtain a full scholarship to a nursing program then the out-of-pocket cost would be free, and in that sense, one could become a nurse for free; through scholarship, or financial aid is always another method that one could use to help get through school. However, financial aid is not a gift of money; it's a loan, and has to be repaid."
